Victor J. Anderson, age 93, life long resident of Havertown died Monday March 8, 2010.
Born January 12, 1917 in Philadelphia to Helen Garrity and Sven Victor Anderson. He grew up in Haverrtown and graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys.
A U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II with the 3706th Army Air Force Unit. He enlisted on February 17, 1941 and was Honorably Discharged on November 14, 1945 as a Sergeant.
Victor was with the Merchant Marines for 35 years as a Pursor and a Physician's Assistant.
He was an avid reader and loved to swim. He swam regularly until the age of 90.
Victor was the husband of the late Eleanor Snyder Anderson, father of Joan Anderson Tarka (Tom), Kathy Anderson, and Louise Anderson (Brad Powers). Also survived by 2 grandchildren.
Family and friends may call 9:30 to 11 AM Saturday in the Funeral Home of John Stretch, 236 E. Eagle Rd, Havertown. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to American Red Cross, P.O. Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340-2018.
